Dark Ambient | Mad Max Car Park Melbourne

Venturing into the South Lawn car park, an original Mad Max filming location, I embarked on a mission to capture its distinct acoustics. Armed with the reliable Sony PCM D100, I made recordings from various locations within this iconic structure.

Despite the consistent presence of a distant compressor, I utilized hand claps to record the unique reverb characteristics this space offered.

While capturing a quiet room tone proved elusive due to the constant compressor sound, the recordings still vibrate with cinematic history and architectural fascination.

This sound library, replete with these experimental soundscapes and supported by accompanying photographs, offers a tangible auditory impression of this intriguing space.

My hope is to one day return, armed once again with my trusty recorder, and capture the elusive quiet room tone without the noise of the compressor. Until then, this collection serves as an archive to the car park's unique sonic personality. Here's to hoping for a quieter future visit. Fingers crossed!
